Globe E1552 Modem Cannot Connect on HSS or Expatshield VPN

Hi guys!!
Even Your Nokia Mobile Phone can access Free internet using VPN

A friend of mine asked me if I can teach him how to use VPN. Then I just pointed him on my blog post: Free Internet for Globe Tattoo Broadband and SmartBro using VPN
But, he gave up upon seeing that blog post of mine. I know he will as per he’s not the type of guy that will read long, english posts that talks about technical stuffs and the like. Well, whatever, we ended up me-myself configuring his laptop personally. -_-
When I am doing stuffs like this, (which I had done a lot of times now “-_-) I always check first the OS bit of the laptop/pc. I saw its just on 32bit. This will be easy, I told myself.
There is no problem on installing TAP HSS Adapters, as per the pc laptop is just on 32bit. I just extracted the files on the TAP HSS 32bit installers, and then run the addtap_hss.bat done! TAP drivers installed successfully.
And so, I tried the HSS GUI. But I got error when I hit the connect button. The gui auto-exits. I do not know the problem why.
So I tried to use Expatshield VPN for Globe, with the portable version of OpenVPN. There is no error upon running and connecting, as per the required drivers are present. But still it won’t connect. The connection status screen stays stucked after showing the local port info. I am assured that the lport settings is right with respect to the new updates for globe tricks.
Then I tried to restart the laptop also. But still, no luck. Still cannot connect. We are hopeless that time, but I still manage to make it work. :D

Globe Huawei E1552

Globe Huawei E1552 Broadband Stick

He has a Globe Huawei E1552 Broadband Stick. you can read it printed on the stick. But just seeing it, I know its different from what I am using, a Globe E153 (Huawei) unit. Why? Because the tattoo branding sticker is made of paper, not from reflector sticker material. XD

Fix Globe E1552 not Connecting on GLOBE VPN

I checked everything on the dashboard. Signal is okay, its full and strong. The network profile is okay also. Tried to change settings to PAP and used *99# dial number, but still no luck. I also had done disabling TCP/IP on IPv4 NetBios in the Adapter settings of Win7, but still it won’t make the VPN work. I cannot make the dashboard settings to RAS(modem) as per its not E135 broadband stick, and the dashboard is an older version as well.

Then the fix:

Simple! Just reinstall the dashboard.
Yeah, that’s it! It worked for our case.
I just thought about it and hey it really worked!
Just go explore the drive icon of the broadband cd image on My Computer, and see for the SetUp file. Running this will reinstall your dashboard program files.
After reinstall, I tried to connect again on the Expatshield Portable, it got green and boom! CONNECTED!
Though the error on the HSS GUI stays. I just had advised him to just use the EXS portable. heheh
Well, that’s it for today. I hope it had helped everybody. O by the way, if you want to know, this is how the older dashboard looks like:

It doesnt have RAS(modem) option on its dashboard settings, and the its windows icon is a square one, with GLOBE logo. It’s program name on icon shortcut is Globe Broadband. If this is the default dashboard that runs with your usb broadband dongle, then youre using an E1552. :D

Working Free VPN for MOBILE PHONES

When I got the Nokia N8 I had previously showcased, I found and installed an application that was called VPN. I installed it because I was a total noob that time about VPN and I only know that it can be used for free internet. But I cannot see anything that was added to my applications icons. I never knew it before that it just adds another settings options on the phone settings; called VPN Settings. But I never had made it work, since then.
Some of my friends, who uses S60v3, told me that they too got VPN application to install VPN settings capability on their phones. This includes my brother who got a 6120c phone, as well as my classmate who got an E63 phone. We still haven’t made it work.
Honestly, I never tried it. Why? Because seeing something that was far different from what I see on tutorials about using VPN’s on android/iOS phones and devices, made me quit it on the first hand.
Yeah, symbian support for VPN is a lot different to android/iOS as these devices suports OpenVPN connection, just like what we normally does in our laptop/pc, yeah for free internet.
Then, I came to have read a post somewhere in the internet world, a forum post that says that “PPTN connections are blocked by Philippine networks, unlike OpenVPN. That’s why we cannot use it for free internet.”

VPN for Nokia N70?

The sad part, there seems to be no VPN application for symbian that supports OpenVPN. And that’s how I lost the urge to try this so called VPN for symbian. Even though a friend of mine, named Dhasniper, point me to a link on a VPN compatible for S60v2 devices such as my Nokia N70. Up until now, I haven’t tried to use or try it. XD
If you feels like trying, just look for the VPN for your phone, for v3 phones, try searching for SymVPN, its an app. If you want to get the settings, http://bfvpn.com/ seems to got it all for you.
To clear it out, this VPN for Nokia (Symbian) is working, but not for Philippines. Actually, this VPN support was made for just VOIP access, and not mainly for GPRS access. Then, you have to get those policies files, which seems to me a very troublesome process. So I’m passing out of this mobile hype. XD

Free TV Streaming using Coreplayer and Smart GPRS

TV Streaming using mobile phone.

I can still remember, on our early years in wap world, if you can stream TV from your phone, “astig ka”. :D People identifies you as: “wow! Lupet naman!”. Hahaha. That was way back 2008, I guess. We are using MyGlobe Stream capable Globe Sim cards and RokTV (a symbian application). But what’s really important was, the channels.
TV Channels’ format from then was, *.sdp
It can be manually saved on your gallery as a link. Then you can now stream through your media player. But, there’s a limitation. Luckily, the RokTV can be editable and it can bypass the limit of mobile phone streaming. It’s fun when we can watch our favorite anime TV shows at school, and its for free. XD That time, Pinoy/China phones that are TV-capable are not yet popular in the mobile market.
Enough of that historic intro. :D hahah.
Now, you can still enjoy TV streaming from your mobile, for free!
This only works for Smart. Sorry to Globe users, the previously working streaming channels just aren’t working anymore, so please don’t ask. XD

Watching OnePiece on GMA7

This TV streaming has only been proven working via using a symbian app called: CorePlayer. If you still doesn’t have that app, just go find it yourself. LOL CorePlayer only works for symbian, if youre phone only supports java/apk, then you cannot use CorePlayer. Try to find a similar application that can stream online or watch videos online. A support in rtsp:// is still something to be considered though.

Connection Settings

Smart GPRS is the connection you will use. Its the default wap setting for smart, using the APN: smart1
For the proxy and port, it can be blank or default.

Watching Slamdunk on GMA7

CorePlayer Settings

If you successfully installed a full working CorePlayer (means cr4cked :D), then congratulations!

Go to Menu > Tool > Settings > Network

Check the “Enable Network Access”

Access Point: Smart GPRS

Use Proxy: “Direct Connection”

Uncheck “Prefer UDP streaming”

The rest, leave untouched. Save and restart CorePlayer.

How to watch

As of this moment, there are only 3 channels available. The number of these channels might be increased if somebody else can discover Session Description Protocol files that will work for Smart streaming. XD LOL

Make *.sdp files on your phone via X-plore (New text Document, then rename from *.txt to *.sdp) with the URL’s of the channels.
Then using CorePlayer, open any one of these sdp files.
Wait until it connects. A 3G signal is much preferrable for better streaming experience. :D
Alternatively, you can just copy the url of the channels and then choose the “Open URL” option on cPlayer. :D

I haven’t tested this yet, but my facebook friends already confirmed it working. :) I am not sure if it can be done manually, (without using CorePlayer) just for the sake of S40 users. Please do try at your own discretion. But I have a strong feeling that it won’t work, as per the built-in RealPlayer of our phones have stupid limitations, ie; “Not enough bandwidth.”

The previous trick we are using, the MyGlobe Connect @Trick, suddenly stops working. But luckily, here comes again an old trick, it is called: Dot Trick. :D
Are you not familiar? Well, its simply using dots on the server. XD

Though, I bet this wont be download capable on OM4.2, I can just use it with the OM6.5, especially the Symbian version for my N70, problem solved! Yay! Back to mobile free internet!! Hahaha^_^

Sun Cellular Prepaid Load Hack

What happens? Your load, get stacked up, doubled, and continuously increasing even if you had already subscribed to SBW100. This only works for Sun Sim that are used on a wireless USB broadband stick.

Overview

Copy-pasted.^^

1st you must load a regular P100, if you like SBW100.
After you load a regular P100 go to text press CTRL + N or click New Message.
After that type SBW100 and send it to 2292.
after you load it… text 2225 then type BALANCE when SBW message comes you’ll see that your regular load is currently stocked. So, do it like 5x coz the allowable load for loading your sun broadband is P500.

I am really not sure if this really works, as per I cannot test it myself. Please do try and provide a feedback, well just try it if you were actually planning to make an SBW100 subscription and ready to spend P100 prepaid credit. heheh.

Solution For Globe Fixing for VPN

Then, not just that, there are consequently other problems that is experienced by GLOBE Tattoo Broadband Modem users, such as me. The VPN connects but it won’t browse, also sometimes the VPN doesnt connects at all.
Its a good thing that there are lots of good netizens that shared their workarounds. So I’m here to share it.

Unable to connect on HUAWEI GLOBE modems such as E153 and E1552

Fix:

Globe Tattoo E153

Launch Globe Dashboard, go to Tools > Options > General > Select RAS instead of NDIS > Ok
Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter settings >

Unable to connect on ZTE modems using GLOBE (MF626/MF627)

SmartBro Broadband ZTE-MF Series

Fix:

Launch Smart Bro Dashboard, minimize and do not close.
Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter settings > Locate the ZTE modem connection. Create a copy of this connection. The reason we are copying this is that there are some instances that the device disappears when the SMART BRO Dashboard is closed.
Select the newly copied ZTE modem adapter > select & right click and go to Properties > Networking TCP/IP V4 > Advanced > WINS > Disable Netbios over TCP/IP.
Create a shortcut of the connection and save it to your desktop.
In order to connect. Simply connect your USB stick and launch the smartbro dashboard.
Minimize the Dashboard and locate your newly created connection on the desktop.
Right click and connect. It will show no notifications so wait a few seconds.
Launch the OpenVPN client and connect.

TLS Error when connecting

Fix:

TLS errors are often network related, please check your network stability. Your signal may not be that stable.
Check for firewalls that may be blocking the connection. There are instances that ESET may be blocking your connection so please check.
Check your APN settings as it may not be correct.

opcode Errors upon connecting

Fix: Edit the config files.

Launch OpenVPN. Do not connect to any server. Select a server and select edit config.
Add the the following lines at the bottom:

dhcp-option DISABLE-NBT
dhcp-option DISABLE-NBT
SAVE. Then now connect.

That’s it!
I also have experienced this problem, and now, I do not have any problem connecting to any VPN’s anymore. :D

ESET NOD

The reason why I had asked on facebook, what AV my fans are using, is because of the ESET network filtering, which I also had experienced. If you are using ESET, click on the icon in your system tray and then click on Enable Network Traffic. This will disable network filtering, and so allowing you to browse the internet using VPN.
Well, that’s it! Hope to solve everyone’s problem, especially those Globe users. If you still happen to get unconnected by all means, you should try using another SIM card, that also works for me.
